Description/Bio: This workshop will introduce participants to the understanding of Latino/Hispanic culture. The ultimate goal of this workshop is to help participants increase their level of understanding of the families and children with whom they work. The participants will have the opportunity to increase their knowledge, challenge attitudes, increase skills, and hopefully change their behavior when necessary, which will contribute to the increased effectiveness of their work with this population.

David Carrillo, LCSW, DCSW, CADC is a licensed clinical social worker in private practice in Palatine, Illinois. David Carrillo has been presenting diversity-training programs at the state and national level and he has been involved in the training of educational staff in the areas of Latino/Hispanic culture. David is of Hispanic descent and presents his material from a personal and professional perspective. David has also been a psychotherapist for the past 30 years and worked as a school social worker for 28 years.

This training will provide 5.0 hours for the following:

  • CPDUs (Continuing Professional Development Units) for teacher certification
  • CDA (Child Development Associate) credit in area(s) #3 & #4
  • CE credit for SLP, SW, LCPC, PT, and OT professionals
  • EI credit for Early Intervention professionals in the area of Families

Full attendance is required to receive a certificate of participation.
