Day Camp for Early Educators: Storytelling, Movement, & Comedy in the Classroom

featuring Dot Kane

Over 60 campers participated in the STARNET Region I & III day camp that was held at the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars park in East Peoria. Through the use of stories, props, and a lot of humor, Dot demonstrated how early educators can use these tools to develop and maintain a positive, calm, and happy atmosphere for young children.

Dot, aka the little red hen, and day camp participants bring the story of The Little Red Hen alive with a few props!

What would you do if you were given a few props and asked to create a story? These creative campers used a hat, spoons, and several other props to bring their story to life!

Ta-da! Day camp participants finish their production of a story!

Hmmm… I wonder what kind of story Dot created using toothpaste and a toothbrush??
